Dear Bert:

Thank you so much for sending me the billfold.  It is an artistic souvenir which will constantly remind me of your thoughtful generosity.  the fact that I have not much to put in it will not subtract in the slightest degree from my thanks and appreciation.

Developments here are still favorable, but if they continue to cut down my air force, I will soon be in the same condition I was when you joined me in Australia.

My best to you as always.

                                                              Faithfully,

                                                              DOUGLAS MacARTHUR
