Conrad Faeger Jackson

JACKSON, Conrad Faeger, soldier, born in Pennsylvania, 11 September, 1813; died in Fredericksburg, Virginia, 13 December, 1862. Before the civil war he had been connected with the Pennsylvania and Reading railroad. He joined the army early in 1861, was appointed colonel of the 9th regiment of Pennsylvania reserves, which he commanded at the battle of Dranesville, Virginia, and served under General George A. McCall in the Peninsula campaign. In July, 1862, he was made brigadier-general, and commanded the 3d brigade of McCall's division, participated in the battles of South Mountain and Antietam, and was killed at Fredericksburg while at the head of the column of attack.
