German author, journalist, playwright. Born
June 6, 1875 in Lubeck, Germany, he is known for narrative psychological studies
and explorations in mythology. He won the Nobel Prize, 1929, for The Magic
Mountain. He died August 12, 1955 in Zurich, Switzerland.
