Born on December  15, 1892 in Minneapolis. Mr. Getty entered into the oil company of its father in 1914. With brilliant sense of business he developed the Getty oil company to a Fortune Top 10 company, which practically monopolized  oil concessions in North America and Arabia.  The Getty Company maintained the  largest tanker fleet in the world. In 1957, Fortune magazine reported that Jean Paul Getty was  the world's richest private person. He was asked  how much he was worth in cash and his response was   "I would hope to realize several billions," he said. "But, remember, a billion dollars isn't worth what it used to be."

In  1953 he establish in Malibu, California, the Jean Paul Getty museum.  Today the The J. Paul Getty Trust, is a $6.4 billion operating foundation with interests in the visual arts and humanities, officially which operates at the Getty Center, a 110-acre museum campus in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains.

Mr. Getty died on June 6 , 1976  with cause of death was reported to be heart failure. He was 83 years old.  Only a fraction of its fortune of approximately 10 billion dollars was bequeathed to his  family.
